Some of our recent success stories are illustrated below.
The Hertfordshire Golf Club
GVA Humberts Leisure's Consulting & Planning team have worked together on this application for a prestigious golf hotel. The Planning team co-ordinated the planning application while the consulting team provided supporting evidence. Given the sensitivities of new development in the Green Belt and the Listed Status of the mansion, we were initially asked to identify uses for the mansion. Concluding that development in the form of new hotel accommodation was most appropriate, we prepared a planning application with supporting evidence to show that the hotel would best preserve the listed mansion. The application is currently being considered by the local planning authority.
Tavistock, Devon
GVA Humberts Leisure's Consulting team was asked to independently examine the demand and need for the development of 50-plus timber-clad static caravan-based holiday lodges. A detailed need and economic impact assessment was undertaken to support the planning application. We subsequently provided evidence at a planning inquiry. Permission was granted and funding for the scheme has now been secured.
Hotel Development, Cambridge
GVA Humberts Leisure Consulting was commissioned by a developer wishing to develop a budget hotel in one of the UK’s best performing hotel markets. The team was asked to provide a detailed evidence base to assist the developer in overcoming planning obstacles and to support the justification for the hotel. The hotel is currently being considered by the local planning authority.
The Oxfordshire Golf Club
The owners submitted a planning application for a hotel. The application was initially refused due to the lack of supporting evidence justifying need. GVA Humberts Leisure Consulting undertook a detailed assessment to inform the subsequent Planning Inquiry and acted as Expert Witness. The application was approved and the hotel & spa has now opened – re-positioning it as one of the leading golf and leisure resorts in the country.
Various Sites, Forest Holidays
An established provider of high-quality timber log cabins, Forest Holidays, was seeking to develop two new sites in the UK. GVA Humberts Leisure's Consulting team was commissioned to undertake detailed market need & economic impact assessments of the development proposals to assist with our client's planning applications.
Lodge Development, Lincolnshire
GVA Humberts Leisure Consulting was appointed to undertake a detailed market need & economic impact assessment for a proposed new timber holiday lodge scheme on the outskirts of Louth in Lincolnshire. Our report has been used as supporting evidence for the subsequent planning application. The scheme has recently received planning permission.
