A ₤35m, 170-bedroom hotel at the Brit Oval in Kennington, south London, has been given the go ahead by Lambeth Council.  The plans involve the redevelopment of the whole of Pavilion end of the ground, home of Surrey Country Cricket Club.  According to a statement released by the club the plans “will completely transform the ground with the demolition of the ageing Surrey Tavern and the Lock, Laker and Peter May stands, and replacing them with a new stand and 170-bedroom hotel.”  Surrey County initially had its application for the four-star hotel rejected after concerns were raised by the Health & Safety Executive.
