Developer City Site Estates has been granted permission for a 20-storey hotel in Glasgow after revising the design. The 119-bed hotel, to be operated by Staybridge Suites, was originally thrown out by Glasgow councillors last year after being described as “hideous”. However, after architect Young & Gault revised the design, including the cladding on the outside of the building, the scheme has been given the go-ahead. Work on the development, at 50-58 Jamaica Street, close to Central Station, is expected to begin shortly, with completion due in 2010.
