Hazlehead golf course set for major upgrade
An Aberdeen golf course is set for a multi-million pound redevelopment after bidders were invited to submit plans to the local authority. A number of objectives have been laid out by the council as part of the tender process, which will have to be met by the successful bidder. A key priority will be to keep the redeveloped course available to local golfers on a pay-and-play basis, while also ensuring that the history and environment of the facility is maintained. Specialist surveyors HLL Humberts Leisure will be advising the council after originally being appointed last autumn to invite expressions of interest in the Hazlehead site. A final decision is not expected until the end of the year, but it is hoped a long-term lease of the course will start on 1 April 2009.
