RFU to make solo 2015 World Cup bid

Martyn Thomas, chair of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), has confirmed that England intends to launch a solo bid to host the 2015 Rugby World Cup following talks with the government. Thomas met Prime Minister Gordon Brown and sports minister Andy Burnham to discuss government support for the bid to stage the tournament, which was last held in England in 1991.
