Tourism sector to benefit from Ten Year Boost
Three holiday park business opportunities brought to the market in South West England
Three lucrative holiday park development and business opportunities have been brought to the market in the West Country by Humberts Leisure. According to VisitBritain, the value of tourism is expected to increase by more than 60 per cent by 2020, making the sector worth £188 billion to the UK economy. This spells good news for holiday-based businesses in South West England which are inextricably linked to the buoyancy of the domestic holiday market.
- Porlock Caravan Park, North Devon, is set within the Exmoor National Park with views towards the Bristol Channel. The park comprises 55 serviced static holiday caravans, 44 of which are occupied by private owners; 9 modern two and three bedroom letting units; 40 touring pitches; a three bedroom park home and a one bedroom staff unit. Offers in the region of £1.95m
- Ilford Park, Devon, is a development opportunity of an 11.7 hectare (28 acre) site with planning consent for a new 300 pitch holiday static caravan park including a pub and cafe, administration building, shop, wardens unit and storage. Offers in the region of £3m
- Ivyleaf Coombe, North Cornwall, comprises 11 timber clad holiday lodges and a detached contemporary three-bedroom owner’s house with garden. Planning consent has been granted for the development of two further units plus permission to convert a redundant building to form a two-bedroom holiday lodge. Offers in the region of £1.6m
John Mitchell, director of Humberts Leisure, says: “The improving domestic holiday market has created increased interest in developing and operating holiday businesses. The secure, long term investment returns and the relatively relaxed lifestyle it offers will appeal to a broad range of buyers, both private and corporate. These three real estate-based businesses each present a unique opportunity for property or lifestyle investors seeking a revenue-generating operation in an expanding market.
Maureen McAllister, Director of South West Tourism says: "South West England is the UK’s number one domestic holiday destination, with an annual visitor related spend of over £9 billion. The holiday park sector in the region is currently experiencing growth in visitor numbers, as they remain a popular choice of holiday accommodation following the growth in 'staycations’ and clearly have the potential to be an attractive investment opportunity too.”
