Rating specialist strengthens Holiday Property team
HLL Humberts Leisure is delighted to announce that our Holiday Property team has been strengthened by the addition of Peter Boghurst MRICS. After qualification as a Chartered Surveyor in 1969, Peter worked firstly in the City on commercial agency and investment, and later in the Mayfair offices of Strutt & Parker, undertaking general professional work but specialising in landlord & tenant and rent review negotiations. He joined the Inland Revenue Valuation Office in 1975 at Eastbourne and progressed to Deputy District Valuer. Following the re-structuring of the Valuation Office in 2000, Peter was assigned to the Leisure Team in the Special Rating Unit, dealing with marinas, tourist attractions, large hotels, caravan and chalet parks and other receipts-based valuations, and was also the golf course specialist for the South East of England.Peter arrived at HLL in October 2005 and brings two areas of expertise with him. Peter comments “As a former National Caravan Specialist, I have been dealing with caravan businesses for about 8 years and have visited most of the parks and met many of the site operators. This will be invaluable in assisting John Ridgwell and Darren Hood in providing planning, site licensing and development advice. Secondly, I am working closely with Martin Reed providing non-domestic rating advice to clients such as Holiday Property Bond, Hoburne and Loch Fyne Restaurants, to mention but a few.” In this field, Peter’s considerable presence is already being felt with a significant success on a rating appeal in Reading. “I was able to persuade the Valuation Officer to halve a large assessment on the Loch Fyne Restaurant - much to the client’s delight!”For specialist rating or site licensing advice contact
